A really quick trip. Two minutes, in fact.
I found this through Refinery 29's Daily Diversion. Amazing.

Update on Hannah's Art Contest Entry
Hannah's Poppy earned an Honorable Mention at the art contest sponsored by the Loma Prieta District Womens' Club and one of the judges said that she would like to buy it when Hannah has her first gallery show!
Reminder: Hannah is six.
She literally glowed when her teacher gave her the news.
I guess I'd better get started on transforming my plant room into an art studio for the girls.

Hannah's Gallery
I've finally updated Hannah's Art Gallery.
There are three new posts, covering 2008 (a small sample) through this week.
Stroll through and remind yourself that she's only six.

Doodle 4 Google
Doh! How did I miss this?
Yesterday Google announced the winner of this year's Doodle 4 Google contest, in which kids in grades K-12 are challenged to design a Google logo around a particular theme. I love the overall winner, but--even without seeing the K-3 winner, I'm pretty sure that Hannah could have cleaned up in that age group. (Why yes, I am a tad biased. Does it show?)
The Grand Prize for the overall winner, 6th grader Grace (Suryung) Moon, was a 10,000$ scholarship and a 25,000$ technology grant for her school. The winner in each grade group gets a laptop computer.
Someone remind me about this next year. Our school could use that technology grant.

The Gates of Hell
No, no, this is not to describe our summer "vacation." Not yet, anyway.
Hannah is going to an art camp next month at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. We're to drop her off with the teacher near The Gates of Hell, one of the sculptures in the Rodin Sculpture Garden.
I can't be the only parent of a four-going-on-fourteen year old who thinks this is funny. Not to mention more than a little appropriate some days.
